The given tasks are always to locate and save all personnel alive and recover as much valuable information and documentation regarding the emergency state and which protocols or systems failed that led to the emergency broadcast.

The conception of the IERU Foundation was a tight fight between corporations and SpaceNauts from the first generation of 2096, whose only proposal was to seek standardized emergency assistance in case of Life-Threatening emergencies out in Solar Space which many corporations opposed because of intellectual property rights and will to keep secrets away from unwilling eyes.  which culminated finally with the BriggersGuide Colony ship catastrophe of 2124.  The ship's purpose was to bring the final batch of 2 million people to repopulate the dwindling Mars population that suffers from lower fertility rates due to the lower tidal changes and gravitational effects as well as the increased radiation dosage that comes with a thinner atmosphere. The colony ship reported a malfunction in the steering thrusters but the emergency protocol never got triggered.  back then humans were the ones to trigger the emergencies. This ended with the ship being unable to correctly Apoapse and Periapse to the Mars orbit for landing, finally overshooting, and terrifyingly crashing at violent speed as an engulfed ball of fused metal and flames.

From there on IERU was founded and all emergency protocols would be handled by Automated AI systems.
